I would like to use a MySql db with this. Build a voters list, poll open and closed date/time, only show results at the closing date. Is this possible with the script?

Yes, it's possible to add features like that. I think "Ajax Poll Admin" is closer to what you are looking for than "Ajax Poll Script"
