No, that doesn't prove the database settings are correct.
Please confirm the database HOSTNAME is correct. If yes, then probably MySQL wasn't set up right. Try some other scripts that use MySQL. If you still receive similar error messages, you should ask your web administration to check your MySQL server settings.
