Don't worry about the version difference. The difference is very minor and the interfaces are exactly the same.

Well, the script doesn't need .htaccess, so I can't answer your question :)

when i enter wrong user/pass i get:
Wrong Username or Password

but when i enter the correct user/pass i get:
HTTP ERROR 500
